Yes…I predict that color will be the new black in my 2008 FergiBarnes‘ collection.

Eye-popping shnazzy colors, chunky beads, sliced crystals & slabs of silver. Juicy Lithuanian amber, silk threading, raw & rugged leather. Vintage jewels, old bottlecaps, found objects & metal.

Showcase debuts February 1, 2008.

Slow, Slower, Slowest

Things are moving much slower than I would like! After leaving my job I decided that I needed to repaint the FergiBarnes’ studio…and I have! Lots of paint, new furniture and tons of jewels have made my new work area so perfect that I could even live in it! I am slowly adding new work to the website via Flickr. Currently I am adding notes to each piece (viewed in Flickr) that will detail the substance of the item as well as the cost. My brother-in-law, Charlie Trotter, has agreed to redo the website in early 2008. I am also contemplating becoming a part of the Canton neighborhood. Exciting things are in store for FergiBarnes!

Happy Holidays!

I LOVE flickr! It really makes posting pics so easy and very efficient. With that being said, I am still trying to get the sets & collections just the way that I see each one in my mind’s eye. I spent an entire week with the best beading buddy anyone could ever have – my mother – Vicki! She made a beautiful piece for my sister and I photographed it and put on flickr. I also am adding notes to each of the older jewelry pics that will include a short & sweet description as well as adequate pricing.

I am still planning on having new work uploaded by first of November.

I’ll write more as I have more to say…..Ciao!

I have done the unthinkable! I have left my job. It was really a difficult decision but one that was necessary for me and my husband. I absolutely loved the people I worked with! I will have time now to make fabulous glass! Gaudy and chic earrings! Delicious neck candy!
New pics of new pieces will be up the first week of November…..maybe the last week of October.

I plan to celebrate my new found freedom with late night beading and lots of CSI reruns. Wish me well.

It is quite sad that the last post I made was shortly after my first BIG show.  FIRST big show.  Gee – This is a problem.  Not enough time to devote oneself to brainstorming, analyzing, making, trashing, redoing, crying, and finally creating.

In a nut shell – I’m debating quitting my day job.  Life is short.

Maybe – just maybe – I should do what makes me feel alive, gives me a voice and sets me free.

So the First show came and went….The Wildflower Festival is o’er…And what did I learn from this experience? What did I NOT learn? I was very naive when I was preparing for the show – I made my one style of bracelet and a few different styles of earrings and that was it! It only took a few hours on the opening eve of the WFF to determine that I did not make enough jewelry pieces – I did not have a variety of pieces (single pendants, cluster earrings, multi-strand bracelets, etc) as well as a variety of price points for every type of potential consumer….This is difficult to achieve when you are actually creating the art in the first place – like firing every bead that goes into your bracelet or firing two beads that are identical and balanced for a pair of earrings…..and by far the worst thing that I did, or failed to do rather, was to have appropriate and prominently displayed signage that detailed who I was…what I made…how I made it…and why you should buy it! I did give out plenty of Moo-like business cards for which I received a bevy of complements!

All in all it was a blast! I will register with Etsy.com this week and then will be back at the torch to crank out some fun lovin’ funky junky classy jewels…I will blog more later.

ciao.

Here goes nothing.

This is the First Actual Post for FergiBarnes, Inc. Exciting things are in store! I will be busy getting ready for The Wildflower Festival in Richardson, TX which will be held May 18th, 19th, and 20th.

Check back soon when I have more to say!
